Before The Colour Run
In the event that any of the coloured powder lands on your hair, especially light coloured or highlighted hair, you may want to oil your hair before the run. This will help keep the colour from sticking to your hair. It is recommended that you use coconut oil or olive oil, but a good leave-in conditioner will work as well. When cleaning your hair, dust any loose powder out and brush through vigorously. Rinse out the oil/conditioner with COLD water and then wash as you normally would. It is not unusual to need a few washes to rinse out all of the colour. Wearing hair in a pony tail with a hat, bandana or scarf to cover your hair can insure it will remain colour free.
We suggest some form of Colour Fun Run eyewear. Some people wear brightly coloured sunglasses or swim goggles, although every effort will be made to ensure our “colour sprinkler volunteers” keep to the lower portion of the body.
After The Colour Run
The colour does mostly wash out of clothing after the event. As in the case of most things, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you would not mind getting colourful including running shoes. The colour will eventually come out with washing. Wash your Colour Fun Run clothing separately in COLD water. Using a stain remover will help greatly. However, if you would like to preserve the colour in your shirt, spray it with vinegar and iron it.
With a good dusting off, you won’t be 100% clean, but you will be fine for the drive home. We suggest putting a towel down in the car if you drove to the school. But before you go, don’t forget to pick up something to eat from the BBQ, bid on an item at the Silent Auction, enjoy the Bouncy Castle and all of the other fun events at the Spring Fling. It will be fun to see all the Colour Fun Run athletes around the school and the town in their colourful clothes!
